Swindon Borough Council, and partners English Partnerships, the national regeneration agency, and the South West of England Regional Development Agency, are inviting tenders for the preparation of a Swindon Central Area Strategic Framework. This will be a key strategic document, creating a practical framework for the delivery of the long-term Vision for Swindon.

The framework will provide a strategy for decision-making, with regards to regeneration and growth, and a set of guiding principles, against which investment and development will be judged. It will contain a review of planned and existing projects, and demonstrate how the partnership team can best align those projects with the aspirations and vision.

Consultants will be expected to demonstrate a wide range of skills in: urban design, economic development, cultural regeneration, planning, sustainability, transport, spatial planning, housing, infrastructure, and project management; as well as a track record of delivering similar multidisciplinary projects.

The contract is expected to last for up to 6 months, commencing January 2009.
