Expression of interest in undertaking research, under a Planning Framework Agreement, is being sought by Communities and Local Government
The Planning Directorate in Communities and Local Government (CLG) is planning to commission a number of research projects,by 31 March 2010, with the possibility of further commissions by 31 March 2011. We intend to commission individual pieces of research through a framework agreement.
The projects within the framework will help the CLG continue its major planning reform programme, reflecting the needs of frontline users, local planning authorities and other planning deliverers. The changes are expected to make key contributions to the CLG's objectives on managing climate change, improving housing supply, supporting economic development and sustainable communities and reducing bureaucracy. Original research is required to:
- Support good practice guidance.
- Provide evidence for updating policy and making planning policy more efficient in the light of changes occurring over time.
- Support consultations and engagement with a wide range of stakeholders in planning policy, including encouraging community involvement
- Support Environmental areas of planning policy such as Planning Policy Statement (PPS)-20 Development and Coastal Erosion, PPS25 Development and Flood Risk and planning policy for water.
- Underpin the development of new Ministerial priorities
The Planning Directorate is seeking expressions of interest in providing expertise to undertake research projects through the framework agreement for England and Wales.
These agreements will be available for use by all UK contracting Authorities including but not limited to Government Departments and their Agencies, Non Departmental Public Bodies, Local Authorities, Police Authorities, Fire Authorities and Educational Establishments.
